GLORYBOUND 2008!!
Pulse is GloryBound! 2008, Dallas/Fort Worth TX,
Thanksgiving weekend 2008. Worship Leaders are Kari Job
and Pete Luedemann. Speakers are Fred Lynch, Denver Moore
and Ron Hall. Check out
http://www.gloryboundtexas.org for more information.
Mark your calendars. Registration will be $99.00, plus
hotel and meals. we will be driving the vans to save
money. Think ahead and prayerfully consider joining us.
Deposits will be due after the first of the year. Keep
your eyes on the youth board and your emails. Our theme verse is Ezekiel 36:26 "I will give
you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from
you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
Why? In this youth subculture, our students find
themselves in a daily struggle for self definition, particularly
pertaining to who they are in Christ and who He is to them.
At GloryBound 2008, we will help students have a living,
breathing, bleeding understanding of their identity in Christ.
We will pray and watch as God transforms hearts and minds from
stone to flesh, from flat-lines to pulse, so that teenagers are
revived and equipped to live for Christ. We'll worship a Christ
so real and so close to these students that they can hear and
feel His PULSE!

FEAST OF AGES

Ministry Minute - What is the difference between Youth
Ministry & Youth Group? One definition of ministry is "a
person or thing through which something is accomplished".
One definition of group is "a number of individuals assembled
together or having some unifying relationship". We have
been a youth group with some shadings of youth ministry.
Below is the vision of LCMS Youth Ministry.
Youth Ministry...
- Is centered in Jesus Christ...given in
baptism...nurtured through the proclamation and study of
God's Word...strengthened through participation in the
Lord's Supper.
- Supports young people as full members of the church
today as well as the church of the future.
- Challenges young people to take a role in shaping
the church's mission to the world.
- Is a part of and not apart from the congregation's
life and mission.
- Equips youth to utilize their God-given gifts as
faithful disciples.
- Speaks to the full range of life issues of youth in
the congregation and the community.
- Is person oriented.
- Is family inclusive.
- Is congregation based.
- Is outward focused.
- Is ministry to, by, with, through and for youth.
OWY has done many aspects of youth ministry and the
senior high youth Sunday school has filled in much of the
rest. OWY has decided to continue as a group, centered
in Christ, being a part of the congregation's life and
mission, equipping youth to utilize their God-given gifts as
faithful disciples, person oriented and congregation based.
Through Sunday school, Mr. Mosmeyer, in addition to working
with OWY, wants to continue to nurture you through the
proclamation and study of God's Word, through bible study
challenge you to take a roll in shaping the church's mission
to the world and continue to encourage you in your walk with
Christ. Ms. Harmann will be helping with all aspects
of youth ministry. There are many aspects of church
life that may appeal to you - Altar Guild, Praise Team,
IGNITE!, LWML, children's church, adult Bible studies,
all of our ministry boards.
Being young is a gift. Helping you grow in your
walk with Christ is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Ms.
Nunnery, Mr. Gossett, Mr. Mosmeyer, Ms. Harmann, Pastor Jeff
and the entire congregation of King of Kings is there to
support you. Our youth are the future of the church,
and the youth of King of Kings are very dear in the hearts
of every member of our congregation.
